This movie is fantastic! I would recommend this to anyone with eyes and ears. From the start you can tell its a typical 80’s movie, starring Rowdy Roddy Piper the professional wrestler turned actor. What really drives this movie is its perfectly genuine social critique that is still as relevant today more than ever before. The general outline of the story follows Nada (Piper) as a homeless drifter, he stumbles across a pair of sunglasses that reveal the world for what it truly is. These glasses expose advertising billboards for their hidden meanings and allows him to see through the deceptive ‘masks’ that aliens have utlized to stay hidden amongst us.
Written and directed by John Carpenter this film does not fail to deliver entertainment and an intelligent message. Just how much has humanity been controlled and how brainwashed are we really? Who knows. But if your asking these questions you are on the right track, and thats exactly the thoughts that this film tries to invoke. My favourite scene would probably be the EPIC fight between the two heroes. No other analogy could possibly sum up the entire truth movement better. At times when I have tried to educate people regarding certain events, it felt like this exact same battle. Too much so that it is actually frustrating to watch, definitely ahead of its time. If you haven’t seen this already – put it on your ‘to watch’ list. 10/10
